Data Services Task Team
The Data Services task team serves as a forum for exchange of
technical information about WWW / Internet related software
technologies of interest to the CEOS community. This includes Web
services in general and Web mapping services (such as those based on
OGC specifications) in particular. In the context of Earth
Observation these technologies will complement the transport and usage
of high volume remote sensing data over the Internet.
In order to facilitate construction
of interoperable service infrastructures, the task team closely
observes and interacts with OGC and ISO standardization activities
and OGC testbeds (e.g. WCS, Sensor Modeling Language/SWE, OWS and
previously ISO 19119 - Services), and makes the results available to
WGISS and its WTFs. The Data Services task team also shares
information about its members' new data service related
developments. More information is found
here.
Task Team Focus:
- Development and coordination of Data services concepts and
technology among member agencies.
- Development and coordination of WWW technology among
member agencies.
- Technology infusion for member agencies and outreach to
external technical groups.
- Implementation of WWW access to international Earth science
observation catalog and data services systems.
- Impact assessment of
new Web technology on such systems.
